wow, i like this picture very much. Yes it's a bit oldschool, but I haven't seen any cool figurative abstract (like this) before. And those browns and purples are amazing.

dood this isn't even a design...+2 for the effort...but maybe i would have scored you higher if it was put i nthe correct section....but non to less..its no unoriginal and it gets low points for unoriginality.

&the whole thing really seems to be rearranging itself!
i also really like that u used no render....

but a) the compo might be slightly(!) improved and b) the hectic lighteffects at the top do not really fit into the overall style imo.

First off, let me say that a design doesn't have to have the purpose of promotion, advertising, or business. That is just the most common association. A design can simply be a visual composition. In fact many images in the other sections can be considered "Designs." A character concept is technically a design. I'm not saying that those images in other categories belong here, no. What I'm saying is that images go in the category that best fits them. A character concept fits in the drawing or painting sections better then it would here. For this image I would have to say that the category it fits best, is in "Design." It is not 3d, nor is it a painting or a drawing. So I have to say that if it's not obviously catergorized wrong, then let the moderators determine whether or not it is in the wrong section.

As for "What is it?" It's a symbol. A visual metaphor. An abstract. He told you with the title "Pheonix." The image itself unifies the title with wings of fire. It doesn't have to be an obvious depiction of something physical in order to have impact. Only a tiny semblance of what is considered a conventional pheonix held within his design.

I'm not calling anyone out here. Just wanted to clarify.

As for the image. Top marks from me. Great work.

I think that its very clear in Rules & FAQ; in Elite and Member gallery; than in
Categorizing your art, what shoul be in Design section, and you graysun maybe should read this things, and others members to, because for me its without purpose to put some flyer design and contest whit this abstract picture in design section, there its not correspondens.
Maybe it should be new category in gfx where things like this be in there!!!

Katerina, I have read the rules & FAQ, and as I reread them I still think this is the category that best fits this image. There are images that get put in this section that obviously don't belong. The rules only list a few examples and define subcategories, but it is NOT very clear that this work is excluded. Your right that this image is not the typical design work. And maybe there should be a sub-category for abstract design. Which is probably why Pawel uncategorized the subcategory. Either way the quality is definitely up to GFX standards and by the amount of votes it has, it is very clear that others think it fits in well in this category and if a few artists are jealous that it's getting more votes than theirs, then thats' a different problem.

This looks like something from a fantasy game! I find this well made, very cool and good to look at. There's a lot of action in this piece, a lot of movement and many beautiful colours. The surfaces look nice and shiny, and the composition looks balanced to me. To gove you my exact opinion, I think this is incredibly cool!
